Consulting a Critical Mission
NYAP (National Youth Advocate Program) supports children, youth, and families through a wide range of programs, resulting in a large and diverse set of communication materials. Over time, these materials had grown visually inconsistent, making it difficult to maintain clarity, cohesion, and approachability across guides, reports, and supporting assets. The challenge was to bring visual alignment to this complexity without losing the warmth and sensitivity required for mission-driven work.
Working in an art direction and graphic design consulting role, I focused on establishing a softer, cleaner visual direction that could scale across formats and audiences. This included redesigning key guides and reports, refining typographic and layout decisions, and evolving the icon visual language into a more consistent and accessible system. Emphasis was placed on clarity, hierarchy, and restraint—ensuring the design supported content and mission rather than competing with it.
The resulting work aligns NYAP’s diverse communications into a more cohesive and approachable visual system. Guides and reports now share a clearer visual structure, and the refined iconography provides consistency across materials while remaining flexible for future use. Collectively, these improvements strengthen trust, readability, and visual continuity—helping NYAP communicate its mission with greater clarity and confidence.
