About This Project

This is a multi-part project that I did a few different takes and iterations on. The theme behind it was to bring to the surface the use of the one dominant artifact in modern advertising – The asterisk. In the last 50 years, the asterisk has defaulted into something of a marketer’s fail-safe. It has become something that only upon closer inspection, reveals the truth. For some of us that work in a field where regulations and disclosures are the norm, it becomes an ethical challenge.

Trying to sell someone on an idea or offer only to find out there is more to the story. It’s an indication that things are too good to be true and that there is more to something than face value. It is an invitation to look closer even though many of us don’t bother. It is a clear nod to the challenge of authenticity in this world.
